Let's do this.

It has been a while since my last blog post (over a year, I know) but I have made a mid-year resolution to get my life in order, and I will document it all here.

Easy Peasy (Cheap) Dumplings

I would like to preface this post by saying I don't cook. At all. Macaroni and cheese out of a box is my go to meal. Since I moved out of my mom's house I've beenloathing trying to cook more often from scratch.
I saw a recipe in Better Homes and Garden, or something of the like, for frozen dumplings in a homemade broth. Of course I didn't write the recipe down and began having cravings for dumplings like I was preggers (mom read: sarcasm). So I scoured the internet and found a similar recipe. I don't remember which website I exactly got it from but it seems like a general recipe. The best part about the dumplings and broth concoction is that it is very light and super tasty. Second best part? Everything cost me under $20.
Bon appetit!

Dumpling & Broth Recipe
Serves 4 as main course, 8 as appetizer
4 cups chicken stock (I used Swanson Chicken Stock)
1 slice fresh ginger root
2 scallions, sliced
1 tbsp chinese rice cooking wine (I used KAME Rice Cooking Wine)
2 tbsp soy sauce
1 pkg frozen dumplings (I used S&S Nature's Promise frozen chicken & vegetable potstickers)
In saucepan heat chicken stock, ginger root, scallions, cooking wine, and soy sauce. Bring to a boil, then simmer for 10 minutes. Add salt and pepper to taste. Add frozen dumplings. Return broth to a boil, then reduce heat to low and cook for 5 minutes.

RHONY pushed back until Spring

What?! The Real Housewives of New York City will NOT be airing this month - despite all of the promos and teasers we saw for the new season as RHOBH was wrapping up its first season.
According to Sonja Morgan, there is more editing to be done. Apparently there is a lot of footage to be seen and they want to make it the "best season ever". Load. of. Crap. I'm fairly certain that without their big star Bethenny Frankel and with all the crazies running around coughKellycoughRamonacough the season is awful and they need to spice it up by editing the crap out of it. Not only are they NOT airing the new season until spring but BAM! now there is a Real Housewives of Miami that will take its spot.
Sounds fishy to me. Why would Bravo promote the new season of RHONY so much if it wasn't ready? Why is this show that we've NEVER heard of now all of sudden being aired? RHOBH was phenom and a new housewife reality show will not be able to follow that kind of drama. Especially when the viewers were already introduced to all new characters for RHOBH - they should follow it up with a season of veteran housewives. Duh.

Now RHONY and RHOOC (try to keep up with the acronyms) are going to be airing at the same time in the spring. Stoooopid.

My bet: RHOM is going to blow and RHONY is going to be a huge disappointment (no matter how much time they spend editing). RHOOC will still be fab and will make RHONY look like a snoozefest in comparison.

Elizabeth Olsen: Actress To Watch

Elizabeth Olsen, younger sister to those famous twins, is getting some serious attention at the Sundance Film festival for her role in the horror movie "Silent House". She is also starring in another upcoming psycho-thriller "Martha Macy May Marlene".  Although I am not a huge fan of scary movies, I definitely will be interested in seeing her work. She went to NYU Tish School of the Arts so she must be legit, right?

I've always been fascinated by the Olsen twins, them being billionaire moguls at age 3 and all. One reason why I am so intrigued with the Olsen clan is how they manage to stay completely out of the tabloids (aside from being photographed running around NYC dressed as bag ladies). One would assume that they might have followed the footsteps of their fellow child stars and wind up in rehab or the like - but they seem normal - I guess.
Perhaps with the spotlight on the younger 'sis we might see more of this famous family. Here's hoping!
